Our Program
Palisades Youth Wrestling Association (PYWA)
1. Age Range: Youth wrestling programs are designed for children typically between the ages of 5 and 13.
2. Skill Development: PYWA programs aim to teach the fundamental skills and techniques of wrestling, starting from basic moves and gradually progressing to more advanced techniques as the participants gain experience.
3. Safety and Supervision: Safety is a top priority. Coaches and staff ensure that proper equipment is used, and they provide supervision and guidance to prevent injuries and create a safe environment for the participants.
4. Fun and Inclusivity: PYWA programs strive to make the sport enjoyable for ALL participants. They often incorporate fun drills, games, and activities to engage the children and keep them motivated. Additionally, these programs promote inclusivity, welcoming all children of all skill levels and backgrounds.
5. Physical Fitness and Conditioning: Wrestling requires strength, agility, and endurance. PYWA programs include conditioning exercises and activities to help participants improve their overall physical fitness.
6. Character Building: PYWA teaches valuable life skills such as discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. PYWA emphasizes character-building aspects of the sport, fostering positive values and personal growth in participants.
7. Competitions and Tournaments: PYWA programs offer opportunities for participants to compete against wrestlers from other programs. These competitions may range from local meets to regional or even national tournaments, allowing young wrestlers to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience.
8. Coaching and Mentorship: Qualified coaches and experienced wrestlers lead PYWA. They provide guidance, instruction, and mentorship to help young wrestlers develop their technique, build confidence, and reach their full potential.
